Letter to Norma Joyce and Joan Fechser from Grandmother Florence Fechser

Provo City Oct. 19, 1930
Miss Norma Joyce and Joan Fechser,
My Dear Grandchildren,
The beautiful sunshiney morning gladens my heart and makes me homesick for my baby girls. Your parents have taken you to visit your other grandparents. Joyce to Walsberg and Joan to Salt Lake City. Joyce is living with her parents in our home while her father is taking training to teach school, at the B.Y.U. here, he is a college graduate from this school but is doing advanced work this year. Joan's father is teaching school in the Provo High School and he is also a graduate of the B.Y.U. College. They live next door to us.
Your Aunt Ida and Uncle Charles are attending school. Charles is just 18 years old and Ida is fifteen. Roger, another uncle, is on a mission in Paris, France. You girls were born since he left for his mission so he is very anxious to see you, but he can not come home until next Jan. We are expecting a letter from Uncle Roger today. He has been a splendid missionary and baptized some very fine people. He is now Secretary of the mission and lives at the home of the President of the mission. Your uncle Roger and uncle John were about the first Eagle Scouts of Provo and your uncle John was a College graduate of the dear old B.Y.U. Roger has one year college and will finish college when he comes home. How proud we are of our children. We do all we can to have them well educated and we hope and pray that their children may have the chance in school that they have had. We pray for them to live pure lives to be good honest and virtuous. To keep the commandment of God for I know the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is true. The 25th of last month we were called to part with our dear John, your Uncle, so we are placing in the vault his funeral sermon for you to read. I am too sad to write more.
Much love
Your Grandma Florence Fechser
