|Jane Watson Sanford was born March 12, 1830 in Hector, New York. She was the third child of Joel Hubbard and Louisa Young Sanford.
Jane married Samuel Milton Howe. The couple made the long journey across the United States to Utah. Once in Utah, Samuel took a disliking to Salt Lake City, the church and the hard work of farming. He renounced the church, left his family and returned to New England.
After two years of struggling alone, Jane entered into a polygamous marriage to Alfred Douglas Young and had four additional children. When she was 33, Jane passed away leaving her oldest daughter, Louisa, to care for her children.
